  • Entry requirements
    • GCE 'A' level passes
    • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma or other equivalent pre-university certificates.

    All applications are considered on a case-by-case basis.

    Applicants with the following Diplomas may be eligible for exemption to Year 1 of the course:

    Nanyang Polytechnic

    • Diploma in Sports and Wellness Management

    Republic Polytechnic

    • Diploma in Sports Coaching
    • Diploma in Sports and Exercise Sciences
    • Diploma in Sports and Leisure Management

    Other qualifications deemed relevant may be considered. Applicants may be required to pass a 3-month preparatory course in Sports Studies and Marketing.

    If you’ve taken exams over two sittings, repeated an exam, or been upgraded, the entrance requirements may be higher.

  • English language requirements

    If English is not your first language you must have one of the following qualifications as evidence of your English language skills:

    • IELTS 6.0 overall (no band less than 5.5)
    • Minimum C6 pass in English as First Language at GCE ‘O’ Level
    • TOEFL 567 (paper-based) or 87 (iBT) with Reading 22, Writing 21, Listening 21, Speaking 23
    • Successful completion of a recognized approved Diploma, where the language of instruction was English

    Pre-sessional English language courses

This course is spread across two semesters each year and includes a structured curriculum of fifteen modules and a dissertation/research project in Sports Studies and Marketing.


The module details given below are subject to change as the University regularly revises and refreshes the curriculum of our taught programmes. The modules outlined below represent those offered in 2019/20 on this course of study.

Course details

  • Teaching

    Classes are conducted in the day and/or during the evenings.

    Each module will comprise of 25 hours of lectures and 15 hours of tutorials.

  • Assessment

    Assessment is based on combination of coursework and exams. The main end-of-semester exams are normally in December and May. 

  • Classroom hours

    Lectures may be scheduled from 12:006:30pm or 3:3010pm, with two weeks dedicated to each module. Tutorials for the same module will be taught over three weeks and scheduled between Monday and Friday at three hours per session. Classes are conducted over three time slots: 8:30am, 12:00pm and 3:30pm.

  • Study abroad

    You can choose to study in the UK at the University of Stirling campus during your 3rd semester, where you'll be expected to complete modules equivalent to 60 credits. The experience is designed to enhance your global outlook and mind-set, and prepare you to work better in a global economy.

    The programme fee doesn't include air fares and accommodation for the exchange semester at Stirling.
